2nd-3rd August, 10-4pm daily (optional studio access 4-6pm on Saturday) Over this two-day workshop with Jo Davies' expert guidance you will be shown how to throw a range of forms in porcelain. This course is for those who have some experience of wheel-throwing but would like support to improve their skills and confidence. Through demonstrations, discussion, and practice, Jo will guide you through making both simple and challenging forms using a creative but intentional approach. You will be provided with all of the tools and clay needed throughout the weekend, the goal of this workshop is to improve your throwing so works will be reclaimed at the end. If you have your own kiln you are welcome to take home your work or we can fire pieces at Cabalva for a small cost. This course includes: - Materials and tools used over the weekend - Dedicated workspace and wheel - A light lunch and refreshments throughout the day - Open access to the studio from 4-6pm on Saturday to continue practicing About Your Teacher Jo Davies is a ceramicist specialising in wheel-throwing porcelain. Her practice includes hand-making a fine porcelain design range, lighting and unique objects. As a Royal College of Art MA graduate, she exhibits internationally and has worked with, amongst others, the National Portrait Gallery, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Hepworth Wakefield, Somerset House, Heals and the National Trust. Jo is a very experienced teacher, tutoring at West Dean College and lecturing at Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute in China, Brighton University and UCA Farnham. She has recently published her first book ‘Electric Kilns for Ceramics’ with the Crowood Press. *Please note this course requires a full cohort of 4 participants to run.*

If we can find someone to fill your place, we can refund your payment as a voucher to be redeemed against future course, workshop, or pottery pieces at Cabalva. If we are unable to fill your place or you have cancelled with less than 7 days’ notice (except for extreme circumstances) we are unfortunately unable to refund your payment. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your event, your payment will be fully refunded.
